Getting ready for nursery.

As your child attends nursery for the first time, you will most likely have mixed emotions.

We hope the settling in sessions provided you with comfort about what your child would be doing as well as an opportunity to meet our professionals in your room.

We've included a handful of the items you'll need to bring on your first day to Pixieland.

What to bring

Download Eylog.

Your child’s activities during the day will be documented on Eylog. Years from now, you can look back on their Learning Journal as a particular journal of their time at nursery. You can access it anywhere, at any time.

Additionally, you are able to publish your own comments and observations from home, making it a quick and simple method to communicate with your Key Person, exchange ideas, or offer information that the nursery may require. After all, you are the only person who truly knows your child.

Messy activities

Your child will engage in a range of ‘messy’ and art-based play activities at nursery. While aprons are worn and paints are washable, clothing may stain after play on occasion. We advise you to dress your youngster in clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. We will, of course, do everything we can to avert this.

Outdoor play

Children have access to the garden all year, and we recognise the value of outdoor play in a child’s learning and growth.

We request that parents provide an appropriate coat, hat/gloves, and sunhat as needed. During the summer, we provide sun cream to all children.

Pushchairs/car seats

If you walk your child to nursery or need to leave a car seat, our nurseries provide a storage area where they may be placed during the day. Please enquire at the nursery about the location and access to yours.
